Plenty of Los Angeles homes sit within a homeowners association, and if yours does, the roof is often one of the things the HOA cares about. Because the roof is so visible and shapes the look of a neighborhood, associations frequently set rules on color, material, and even the approval process before you can reroof. Approve before you start

The most important step is to get HOA approval before the work begins, not after.
